B1098-FRONT RIGHT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN

When Monitored:
Ignition on, during heated seat operation.
Set Condition:
The Heated Seat Module (HSM) detects an open or high voltage condition.

Possible Causes
(P188) RIGHT FRONT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
(P188) RIGHT FRONT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
(Z912) SEAT HEATER GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
SEAT HEATER ELEMENTS OPEN
HEATED SEAT MODULE

1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC

1.	Turn the ignition on.

2.	With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.

3.	Operate the Heated Seat Switch in both positions several times.

NOTE: Check connectors - Clean and repair as necessary.

4.	With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

Yes

Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure).

2. (P188) RIGHT FRONT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

1.	Disconnect the Heated Seat Module harness connector.

2.	Turn the ignition on.

3.	Measure the voltage on the (P188) Right Front Seat Heater Control circuit.

Is there voltage above 0.5 volts?

Yes

Repair the (P188) Right Front Seat Heater Control circuit for a short to voltage.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure).

3. (P188) RIGHT FRONT SEAT HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN

1.	Turn the ignition off.

2.	Measure the resistance of the (P188) Right Front Seat Heater Control circuit at the Heated Seat Module harness connector to chassis ground.

Is the resistance between 2 and 5 Ohms?

Yes

Replace the Heated Seat Module in accordance with the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure).

4. (Z912) SEAT HEATER GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN

1.	Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z912) Seat Heater Ground circuit.

Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

Yes

Repair the open or excessive resistance in the (Z912) Seat Heater ground circuit.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure).

Check the heater wiring in the driver seat harness for an open, if OK replace the open seat heater element(s) in accordance with the Service Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Totally Integrated Power (TIPM) - Standard Procedure).
