9977-6 - Kit, Radio Antenna Diagnostic

The satellite radio antenna receives signals from orbiting satellites and sends these signals to the radio. The satellite radio antenna must have open space in which to operate. Items carried on the roof, parking inside etc. can have an effect on the antenna's ability to receive signals.

For information on how to diagnosis the audio/video antennas and cables with 9977-6 Radio Diagnostic Kit refer to the proper DTC in section 28.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

 
2. If equipped, remove the complete hard top (1, 2 and 3) (Refer to 23 - Body/Removable Top - Removal) .
   
   

 
3. If equipped, fold the soft top (1) down to expose the passenger upper B-pillar support.
   
   

 
4. Disconnect the antenna connector (1).

 
5. Remove the antenna mounting retainer.
   
   
   
   

   NOTE:

   Antenna removed to show location of plastic tabs.


 
6. From inside the vehicle, and using a flat bladed tool, depress one of the two plastic retaining tabs on the antenna stud (1). Push up on one side of the antenna stud and depress the other plastic retaining tab.

 
7. Once the antenna stud is free, depress the small plastic tab on the locator stud (1) and antenna mounting post (1) and remove the antenna.
   

 

INSTALLATION

1. Insert wire harness through hole in roof panel. Press the antenna (2) into position until both retainers, on the antenna stud, and the locator stud engage into position.

 
2. Install the antenna mounting fastener. Tighten to 6.7 N·m (60 in. lbs.)

 
3. Connect the antenna connector (1).
   
   

 
4. If equipped, install the complete hard top (Refer to 23 - Body/Removable Top - Installation) .
   
   

 
5. If equipped, position the soft top (1) back into position (1).

 
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
