HEATER, Engine Block

DESCRIPTION

WARNING:

Do not operate engine unless block heater cord has been disconnected from power source and secured in place.

An optional engine block heater is available for all models. The heater is equipped with a power cord. The cord is attached to an engine compartment component with tie-straps. The heater warms the engine providing easier engine starting and faster warm-up in low temperatures.

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Remove the engine cover.

  3. Disconnect the temperature sensor electrical connector (3).

  4. Remove the air intake support bolts (5).

    5.  
  5. Remove the air breather tube (2) from the air filter housing (1).

    6.  
  6. Remove the air intake hose at the throttle body (4).

    7.  
  7. Remove the air filter housing cover.


    8.  
  8. Remove the accessory drive belt (7).

    9.  
  9. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

    10.  
  10. Remove the bolts (1) that secure the A/C compressor (2) to the engine. Position the A/C compressor aside.

  11. Detach power cord plug from heater (1).

  12. Remove the screw (2) that secures the heater to the block.

  13. Remove heater assembly.

INSTALLATION

  1. Thoroughly clean core hole and heater seat.

    2.  
  2. Insert heater (1) into the engine block.

    3.  
  3. With heater seated, tighten center screw (2) securely to assure a positive seal. Connect power cord to heater.

  4. Position the A/C compressor (2) to the engine block. Tighten the bolts (1) to 28 N·m (21 ft. lbs.).

  5. Reconnect the A/C compressor (2) electrical connector.

  6. Install the accessory drive belt.

  7. Install the air filter housing cover (1).

  8. Install the air intake support bolts (5).

    9.  
  9. Install the air intake hose to the throttle body (4) and tighten the clamp.

  10. Reconnect the temperature sensor electrical sensor connector (3).

  11. Install the air breather tube (2).

    12.  
  12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

    13.  
  13. Install the engine cover.
