SEAL, Axle Drive Shaft

• INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

1. With transmission in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.

 
2. Remove hub bearings (1) and axle shafts (2) from axle.
   
   

 
3. Remove differential case (2) with bearing cups (3) and shims from differential housing (1).

 
4. Remove inner axle shaft seals with a seal puller.

	6764 - Installer, Axle Seal
	8110 - Installer, Seal Originally Shipped In Kit Number(s) 8163, 8163CC, 8165, 8165CC.

1. Clean axle oil seal bores.

 
2. Install oil seals in axle tube, then with Installer, Axle Seal 6764 (1) and Installer, Seal 8110 (2) tighten tool until disc bottoms (2) in housing.
   
   

 
3. Install differential (1) into housing (1) with bearing cups (3) and shims. Install bearing caps.
   
   

 
4. Install hub bearings (1) with axle shafts (2).

 
5. Install wheel speed sensor.

 
6. Install brake components.
