SEAL, Axle Drive Shaft

• INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

1. With trasmission in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.

 
2. Remove brake components.

 
3. Remove wheel speed sensor from hub bearing.

 
4. Remove hub bearings (1) with axle shafts (2) from axle.
   
   

 
5. Remove differential cover.

 
6. Remove differential assembly (2) from axle housing (1).

 
7. Remove inner axle shaft seals with a seal puller.

	8110 - Installer, Seal Originally Shipped In Kit Number(s) 8163, 8163CC, 8165, 8165CC.
	6764 - Installer, Axle Seal

1. Remove any sealer remaining from original seals.

 
2. Install oil seals with Installer, Seal 8110 (2) and Installer, Axle Seal 6764 (1). Tighten tool until disc bottoms in housing.
   
   

 
3. Install differential (2) into housing (1).
   
   

 
4. Install hub bearings (1) and axles (2).
   
   

 
5. Install hub bearing bolts (1) through steering knuckle (2) and tighten to 102 N·m (75 ft. lbs.).

 
6. Install wheel speed sensor.

 
7. Install brake components.
