To avoid serious or fatal injury
on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint
System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column,
airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component
diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative
(ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to
discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is
the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions
could result in accidental airbag deployment.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Support the courtesy lamp housing (1) with one hand while grasping the flange on the outer circumference of the lens (3) with the other hand, then pull the lens straight down to unsnap it from the housing.
Pull the base of the bulb (2) straight out of the socket in the courtesy lamp housing (1).
LAMP

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the screw that secures the integral mounting bracket of the courtesy lamp (1) to the lower instrument panel (2).
Pull the courtesy lamp unit down from the lower instrument panel far enough to access and disconnect the instrument panel wire harness from the connector receptacle on the top of the lamp housing.
Remove the courtesy lamp from under the instrument panel.
BULB

CAUTION:
Always use the correct bulb size
and type for replacement. An incorrect bulb size or type may overheat
and cause damage to the lamp, the socket or the lamp wiring.
Align the base of the bulb (2) with the socket in the courtesy lamp housing (1).
Push the bulb straight into the socket until the base is firmly seated.
Align the courtesy lamp lens (3) with the lamp housing (1).
Support the courtesy lamp housing with one hand while firmly and evenly pushing the lens into the housing with the other hand, until the lens snaps into place.
Reconnect the battery negative cable.
LAMP

Position the courtesy lamp (1) under the instrument panel (2).
Reconnect the instrument panel wire harness to the connector receptacle on the top of the courtesy lamp housing.
Position the integral mounting bracket of the lamp to the lower instrument panel.
Install and tighten the screw that secures the lamp to the instrument panel. Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (17 in. lbs.).
