SHAFT, Axle

REMOVAL

  1. With transmission in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.

    2.  
  2. Remove brake caliper with adapter and rotor.

    3.  
  3. Remove park brake cable (1) from support plate (2).

    NOTE:

    Park brake cables are self adjusting and must be locked out before removal.

  4. Remove brake sensor harness (1) and remove sensor (2) from support plate.

    5.  
  5. Remove axle retainer plate nuts.

    6.  
  6. Pull axle shaft (1) with support plate, bearing and seal from axle tube (2).

INSTALLATION

  1. Install axle assembly (1) into the axle tube (2).

    WARNING:

    Never reuse axle retainer nuts. Used torque nuts can loosen up. Failure to follow these instruction may result in personal injury.

  2. Install new axle retainer nuts and tighten to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.).

  3. Install brake (2) and harness (1).
