Rear Axle Beam Replacement - Rear Disc Brake

Disc Brake

1.	Raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in the proper locations.

2.	Remove the rear spring.

3.	Remove the hub bearing unit.

4.	Remove the splash guard (A). 10 x 1.25 mm 64 N·m (6.5 kgf·m, 47 lbf·ft)A

5.	Remove the parking brake cable clamp (A). NOTE: The parking brake cable must not be bent or distorted. This will lead to stiff operation and premature cable failure. 6 x 1.0 mm 9.8 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7.2 lbf·ft)A

6.	Remove the brake pipe bracket (A) and the wheel sensor (B) from spindle (C), then remove the spindle from the rear axle beam. 6 x 1.0 mm 9.8 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7.2 lbf·ft)6 x 1.0 mm 9.8 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7.2 lbf·ft)BCA8 x 1.25 mm 22 N·m (2.2 kgf·m, 16 lbf·ft)

7.	Release the wheel sensor cord clips (A). 15 N·m (1.5 kgf·m, 11 lbf·ft)DACB

8.	Disconnect the brake line (B) from the brake hose (C), and remove the brake hose on the rear axle beam by removing the brake hose clip (D).

9.	Place a floor jack under the center of the rear axle beam, and support it by raising the jack.

10.	Remove the rear axle beam mounting bolts on the right and left side, and remove the rear axle beam (A). NOTE: Use the new rear axle beam mounting bolts on installation. A12 x 1.25 mm 69 N·m (7.0 kgf·m, 51 lbf·ft)

Install the rear axle beam in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

First install all the rear suspension components and lightly tighten bolts, then place a jack under the axle beam, and raise the suspension to load the vehicle weight before fully tightening bolts to specified torque values.
Before installing the brake disc, clean the mating surface of the rear hub and the inside of the brake disc.
After installing, fill the reservoir with new brake fluid, and bleed the brake system.
Check the brake hose and line joint for leaks, and tighten if necessary.
Check the brake hoses for interference and twisting.
