DESCRIPTION
The rear cooling unit expansion valve is controlled by the air conditioning amplifier assembly.

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (REAR COOLING UNIT EXPANSION VALVE) |
(a) Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the rear cooling unit expansion valve operates.
OK:
Rear magnetic valve operates normally.

INSPECT FUSE (A/C IG) |
(a) Remove the A/C IG fuse from the cowl side junction block LH.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

(a) Disconnect the air conditioning wiring harness sub-assembly connector. |
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(b) Disconnect the E36 amplifier connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

CHECK REAR COOLING UNIT EXPANSION VALVE (OPERATION) |
(a) Replace the rear cooling unit expansion valve
.
HINT:
Since the rear cooling unit expansion valve cannot be inspected while it is removed from the vehicle, replace the rear cooling unit expansion valve with a normal one and check that the condition returns to normal.
OK:
Same problem does not occur.
