DESCRIPTION
The inverter converts the high-voltage direct current of the HV battery into the alternating current for the Motor, Generator, and Rear Motor. The inverter generates heat during the conversion process, and this heat could damage the inverter if a cooling system is unavailable. Therefore, similar to the Motor and Generator, the inverter is cooled by a special system consisting of an electric water pump, cooling fan, and radiator. This cooling system is independent of the engine cooling system. The HV control ECU monitors the electric water pump, cooling fan, and cooling system, and detects a malfunction.| DTC No. |

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
If the HV control ECU detects malfunction in the electric water pump, fan or radiator, it illuminates the MIL and sets a DTC.INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- CAUTION:
- Before inspecting the high-voltage system, take safety precautions to prevent electrical shocks, such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
- After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 5 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals.
- Before inspecting the high-voltage system, take safety precautions to prevent electrical shocks, such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
- HINT:
- At least 5 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the w/ converter inverter assembly.

Put the vehicle into the READY-on state and wait for 10 seconds or more.
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / DTC.

| 4. CHECK CONNECTION CONDITION OF WATER PUMP CONNECTOR (LOOSENESS AND POOR CONTACT) |
Check the connection of the water pump w/ motor connector.

- Connector is connected securely and there is no poor connection.

| 5. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER (WATER PUMP) |
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Active Test / Active Water Pump.
During the water pump active test, check operation of the water pump.
- OK:
- There are ripples in the reservoir tank coolant.
- HINT:
- The water pump is also activated in the READY-on state.

During the cooling fan activate test, check operation of the electric cooling fan.

- The electric cooling fan operates.

Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the H29 connector from the HV control ECU.
Disconnect the W5 water pump connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- Standard Resistance (Check for open):
