Cooling System

BLEEDING

1993-94 626, MX6, 323, MX3 Miata, Protege and 1993-95 929 and RX7
  1. Slowly refill the coolant, at an even pace of 1.1 qt (1.0 L) per minute, up to the coolant filler port.
  2. Fill the coolant reservoir up to the F mark.
  3. Fully install the radiator cap.
  4. Start the engine and let it idle until it warms up. If the temperature rises above normal, there is air in the system; repeat the last three steps.
  5. Run the engine at 2200-2800 rpm for five minutes.
  6. Stop the engine and allow it to cool.

    CAUTION
    Allow the engine to cool completely. Never remove the cap from a hot radiator.

  7. Properly remove the radiator cap and verify that the engine coolant level is near the filler neck. If the coolant level is low, repeat each of the previous steps.
  8. Fill the reservoir up to the F mark.
1995 MX3 1.6L (K8, B6-ZE) and 1995-97 626/MX6 2.0L (FS), Miata 1.8L (BPD), Millenia 2.3L (KJS), 2.5L (KLD) and Protege 1.5L (Z5D), 1.8L (BPD) Engines
