Removal & Installation

CAUTION
Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the drive plate and the Throttle Body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and Throttle Body assembly may result. Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the drive plate and the Throttle Body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.

To Remove:

1. Remove the engine harness.
2. Remove the injector and fuel rail.
3. Remove the insulator.
4. Remove the Fuel Pressure Regulator and O-ring.
5. Remove the insulator and the injector.
6. Remove the O-ring and grommet.
7. Remove the fuel pipe and O-ring.
8. Remove the delivery pipe.
9. Remove the drive plate and gasket.
10. Remove the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
11. Remove the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor.
12. Remove the water hoses.
13. Note the placement of the heater inlet pipes to ensure correct positioning during installation. Remove the heater inlet pipes and O-rings.
14. Remove the water outlet fitting and gasket.
15. Remove the water inlet fitting.
16. Remove the Thermostat, housing, and gasket.
17. Remove the O-rings and water pipe.

To Install:

NOTE: Wet the O-rings with water before installing them. Do not get any oil or grease on the O-rings.

1. Install the O-rings.
2. Install the water pipe.
3. Install the thermostat housing gasket and the housing.
4. Install the Thermostat into the thermostat housing with the jiggle valve at the top position.

5. Install the water inlet fitting.
6. Install the water outlet fitting and gasket.

   NOTE: Wet the O-rings with water before installing them. Do not get any oil or grease on the O-rings.

7. Install the O-rings and heater inlet pipes into their original positions.
8. Install the water hoses.
9. Install the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Use the specified sealant: 3M Nut Locking #4171 or an equivalent.
10. Install the engine coolant temperature gauge unit. Use the specified sealant: 3M Part #8660 or an equivalent.
11. Install the drive plate gasket.
12. Install the drive plate. Tighten the nuts as follows:
    • Step 1: On the right bank tighten to 6 ft-lb (8 Nm).
    • Step 2: On the left bank tighten to 6 ft-lb (8 Nm).
    • Step 3: On the right bank, tighten again to 6 ft-lb (8 Nm).
    • Step 4: On the left bank, tighten again to 6 ft-lb (8 Nm).
    • Step 5: On the right bank, tighten once more to 6 ft-lb (8 Nm).
13. Install the delivery pipe.
14. Install the O-ring and fuel pipe.
15. Install the grommet.

    NOTE: Before you install the injector, lubricate the rubber O-ring with a drop of new engine oil for easy installation.

    CAUTION
    Do not let any engine oil get into the fuel rail.

16. Install the O-ring and then insert the top end of the injector into the fuel rail. Use caution to avoid damaging the O-ring during installation.
17. Install the insulator.

    NOTE: Before you install the Fuel Pressure Regulator, lubricate the O-ring with a drop of new engine oil for easy installation.

    CAUTION
    Do not let any engine oil get into the fuel rail.

18. Install the O-ring and the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
19. Install the insulator.
20. Install the injector and fuel rail.
21. Install the engine harness.
