Engine Assembly

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

Engine assembly parts and torque specifications

  1. Remove the hood of the vehicle.
  2. Remove the air cleaner.
  3. Drain the coolant.
  4. Remove the Radiator.
  5. Drain the power steering fluid.
  6. Remove the front Exhaust Pipe.
  7. Remove the washer tank.
  8. Remove the engine cover.
  9. Remove the transaxle assembly.
  10. Disconnect the Generator connector.
  11. Disconnect the water temperature connector.
  12. Disconnect the water temperature gauge connector.
  13. Disconnect the injector harness connector.
  14. Disconnect the condenser connector.
  15. Disconnect the distributor connector.
  16. Disconnect the ISC servo connector.
  17. Disconnect the TPS connector.
  18. Disconnect the crank angle sensor connector.
  19. Remove the Generator and A/C drive belt.
  20. Remove the power steering drive belt.
  21. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
  22. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  23. Disconnect the fuel return hose and the fuel high pressure hose.
  24. Disconnect the purge hose and the heater hose.
  25. Keeping the hose attached, remove the air conditioning compressor and Oil Pump.

    NOTE: To avoid damage during removal and assembly of the engine assembly, use wire or a similar material to suspend the removed compressor and Oil Pump in a safe place.

  26. To remove the engine mount, put a jack against the oil pan through a square bar so the weight of the engine is not on the engine mount bracket.

  27. If you used a special tool when removing the transmission assembly, remove it.
  28. Hold the engine assembly with a chain block.
  29. Detach the engine mount bracket.
  30. Remove the pressure hose.
  31. Remove the power steering Oil Pump.
  32. When removing the engine assembly, first be sure that all hoses, cables, harness connectors, etc. are disconnected from the engine. Lift the chain block slowly to remove the engine assembly up from the engine compartment.

To Install:

  1. When installing the engine assembly, connect all hoses, cables, harness connectors, etc. back to the engine. Make sure none of these are damaged, twisted, etc.
  2. Install the power steering Oil Pump. Apply a small amount of new engine oil to the O-ring.
  3. Install the pressure hose.
  4. Attach the engine mount bracket.
  5. Safely and carefully place the engine mount back into its original position.
  6. Install the air conditioning compressor and Oil Pump.
  7. Connect the purge hose and the heater hose.
  8. Connect the fuel return hose and the fuel high pressure hose.
  9. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  10. Connect the accelerator cable.
  11. Install the power steering drive belt.
  12. Install the Generator and A/C drive belt.
  13. Connect the crank angle sensor connector.
  14. Connect the TPS connector.
  15. Connect the ISC servo connector.
  16. Connect the distributor connector.
  17. Connect the condenser connector.
  18. Connect the injector harness connector.
  19. Connect the water temperature gauge connector.
  20. Connect the water temperature connector.
  21. Connect the Generator connector.
  22. Install the transaxle assembly.
  23. Install the engine cover.
  24. Install the washer tank.
  25. Install the front Exhaust Pipe.
  26. Refill the power steering fluid.
  27. Install the Radiator.
  28. Refill the coolant.
  29. Install the air cleaner.
  30. Install the hood of the vehicle.
