- Tighten the wheel bearing nut to 119 ft. lbs. (162 Nm) while turning the
rotor.
- Loosen the wheel bearing adjusting nut completely.
- Tighten the nut to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm), then loosen the nut approximately
30°.
- Using a dial indicator, check the wheel bearing end-play. The specification
is 0.002 in. (0.05mm).
- Install the locknut.
The bearings are integral with the hub. No adjustment is possible.
- With the caliper removed, check the rotational starting torque. Rotational
torque should be 2.7-11.5 inch lbs. (4-19Nm). Rotational torque can be adjusted
by tightening or loosening the adjusting nut.
- Check the hub axial. Endplay should not exceed 0.002 inch (0.05mm). If adjusting
nut tightening does not bring the axial play within specifications, the bearings
must be replaced.
- Check hub endplay. Endplay should be 0.02-0.03 inch (0.4-0.7mm). Shims are
available to adjust endplay.
- Install the hub assembly. Tighten the nut to 94-145 ft. lbs. (127-196Nm).
Loosen it completely. Tighten the nut to 18 ft. lbs. (25Nm), then back it
off 30 degrees.
The rear wheel bearings are not adjustable. If the bearings are noisy or become
loose, they must be replaced.
