Camshaft
Removal & Installation
To Remove:
Camshaft
Remove the air cleaner.
Remove the Timing Belt.
Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
Remove the spark plug cable.
Remove the ignition coil.
Remove the PCV hose.
Remove the breather hose.
Disconnect the control harness connector.
Remove the rocker cover.
Remove the camshaft position sensor support.
Remove the camshaft position sensing cylinder.
To remove the camshaft sprocket:
Step 1: Use special tools #MB990767 and #MD998719 to loosen the camshaft sprocket securing bolt.
Step 2: Remove the camshaft sprocket.
Remove the spark plug guide oil seal.
To remove the rocker arm and shaft assembly on the intake side and on the exhaust side, do the following:
Step 1: Use special tool #MD998443 as seen in the illustration so that the lash adjusters will not fall out.

CAUTION
Do not disassemble the rocker arm and shaft assembly.
Step 2: Loosen the rocker arm and shaft assembly mounting bolt, then remove the rocker arm and shaft assembly with the bolt attached.
Remove the camshaft.
Remove the camshaft sprocket.
Remove the camshaft oil seal.
To Install:
Camshaft
Install the camshaft oil seal.
Install the camshaft sprocket.
Install the camshaft.
Install the rocker arm and shaft assembly on the exhaust side and the intake side.
Install the spark plug guide oil seal.
Install the camshaft sprocket.
Install the camshaft position sensing cylinder.
Install the camshaft position sensor support.
Install the rocker cover.
Connect the control harness connection.
Install the breather hose.
Install the PCV hose.
Install the ignition coil.
Install the spark plug cable.
Connect the ignition coil connector.
