To Remove:
| Timing belt (2.4L)

- Remove the engine mount bracket.
- Remove the drive belt (power steering oil pump and A/C compressor).
- Remove the drive belt (generator).
- Remove the water pump pulley.
- Remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the timing belt upper and lower cover assemblies.
- Remove the timing belt.
- Remove the tensioner pulley.
- Remove the drive belt tensioner.
To Install:

- Install the drive belt tensioner.
- Install the tensioner pulley.
- Install the timing belt.
- Adjust the timing belt.
- Install the timing belt lower and upper cover assemblies.
- Install the crankshaft pulley.
- Install the water pump pulley.
- Install the drive belt (generator).
- Install the drive belt (power steering oil pump and A/C compressor).
- Install the engine mount bracket.
To Remove:
| Crankshaft pulley (3.0L)
|
- Remove the drive belt tensioner.
- Use a flywheel stopper (special tool #MD998781) to hold the flywheel or drive plate, then remove the crankshaft bolt and washer.
- Remove the crankshaft pulley washer.
- Remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the generator and bracket.
- Remove the oil dipstick.
- Remove the O-rings.
- Remove the oil dipstick guide.
To Install:
| Crankshaft pulley (3.0L)

- Install the oil dipstick guide.
- Install the O-rings.
- Install the oil dipstick.
- Install the generator bracket and generator.
- Install the crankshaft pulley.
- Install the crankshaft pulley washer.
- When installing the crankshaft bolt, do the following:
- Step 1: Install a flywheel stopper (special tool #MD998781) to hold the flywheel or drive plate.
- Step 2: Clean the bolt hole in the crankshaft bolt and damper pulley’s seating surface.
- Step 3: Degrease the cleaned seating surface of the damper pulley.
- Step 4: Install the damper pulley.
- Step 5: Put oil onto the threads of the crankshaft bolt and the outer surface of the washer.
- Step 6: Tighten the crankshaft bolt to 139 ft-lbs (185 Nm).
- Install the drive belt tensioner.
