Crankshaft Oil Seals

Removal & Installation

2.0L Engine
Front Oil Seal

To Remove:

  1. Remove the timing belt.
  2. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.
  3. Remove the crankshaft sprocket and spring pin.
  4. Note the orientation and remove the sensing blade.
  5. Remove the spacer.
  6. Remove the seal.

Front crankshaft oil seal

To Install:

  1. Apply engine oil to the seal inner lip.
  2. Install the seal with a suitable seal driver.
  3. Install the crankshaft sensing blade.
  4. Install the spring pin and sprocket.
  5. Install the crankshaft position sensor.
  6. Install the timing belt.
Rear Oil Seal

To Remove:

  1. Remove the oil pan.
  2. Remove the transaxle.
  3. Remove the clutch assembly if equipped.
  4. Remove the drive plate or flywheel.
  5. Remove the rear oil seal.

Rear crankshaft oil seal

To Install:

  1. Apply engine oil to the seal inner lip.
  2. Install the seal with a suitable seal driver.
  3. Install the drive plate or flywheel.
  4. Install the transaxle.
  5. Install the oil pan.
2.0L Turbo & 2.4L Engine
Front Oil Seal

To Remove:

  1. Remove the timing belt.
  2. Remove the crankshaft sprocket and key.
  3. Remove the seal.

Crankshaft front and rear oil seals

To Install:

  1. Apply engine oil to the seal inner lip.
  2. Install the seal with a suitable seal driver.
  3. Install the key and sprocket.
  4. Install the timing belt.
Rear Oil Seal

To Remove:

  1. Remove the transaxle assembly.
  2. Remove the flywheel.
  3. Remove the seal.

Crankshaft front and rear oil seals

To Install:

  1. Apply engine oil to the seal inner lip.
  2. Install the seal with a suitable seal driver.
  3. Install the flywheel.
  4. Install the transaxle.
