Removal & Installation

2.0L Engine

To Remove:

Crankshaft pulley removal/installation (3.0L)

  1. Use a special tool such as #MD990767 to hold the pulley, then remove the crankshaft bolt and washer.
  2. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

To Install:

  1. Install the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Install the crankshaft pulley washer.
  3. Use a special tool such as #MD990767 to hold the pulley, and then install the crankshaft bolt. Tighten the bolt to 134 ft-lbs (182 Nm).
2.0L Turbo & 2.4L Engine

To Remove:

Crankshaft pulley removal/installation (2.4L)

Drive belt tensioner (2.4L)

  1. Insert a suitable breaker bar into the drive belt tensioner and rotate the tensioner counterclockwise until an "L" shaped tool such as a hex wrench can be inserted through the holes in the tensioner as shown.
  2. Mark the direction of the drive belt on the belt and then remove the drive belt.
  3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

To Install:

  1. Install the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Install the drive belt in the original direction.
  3. Rotate the tensioner slightly and remove the holding tool.
  4. Verify the drive belt is installed correctly.
