Water Pump

Removal & Installation

2.0L Engine

To Remove:

1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the timing belt.
3. Remove the timing belt upper rear cover.
4. Remove the water pump.

To Install:

1. Clean all old sealant from the sealing surfaces. Apply 3M^TM AAD Part No.8672, 3M^TM AAD Part No.8679/8678 or equivalent sealant to the water pump sealing surface.
2. Install the water pump while the sealant is still wet.
3. Install the timing belt upper rear cover.
4. Install the timing belt.
5. Refill the cooling system.

2.0L Turbo Engine

To Remove:

1. Remove the under cover.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the timing belt tensioner adjuster.
4. Remove the generator brace.
5. Remove the water pump, gasket and o-ring.

To Install:

1. Install the water pump with a new gasket and o-ring. Do not allow oil or grease to contact the o-ring.
2. Install the generator brace.
3. Install the timing belt tensioner adjuster.
4. Install the under cover.
5. Refill the cooling system.

2.4L Engine

To Remove:

1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the timing belt.
3. Remove the water pump, gasket and o-ring.

To Install:

1. Install the water pump with a new gasket and o-ring. Do not allow oil or grease to contact the o-ring.
2. Install the timing belt.
3. Refill the cooling system.
