Water Pipe

Removal & Installation

2.0L Engine

To Remove:

1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Remove the thermostat.
4. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor.
5. Remove the ground cable.
6. Disconnect the knock sensor, camshaft position sensor and engine coolant temperature sender unit.
7. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
8. Remove the thermostat case assembly.
9. Remove the bolt and the water pipe assembly.

To Install:

1. Install the water pipe assembly.
2. Install the thermostat case assembly.
3. Connect the coolant hoses.
4. Connect the knock sensor, camshaft position sensor and engine coolant temperature sender unit.
5. Install the ground cable.
6. Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor.
7. Install the thermostat.
8. Install the air cleaner.
9. Refill the cooling system.

2.0L Turbo Engine

To Remove:

1. Remove the under cover.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the battery and tray.
4. Remove the air cleaner.
5. Remove the turbocharger bypass valve, air hose E, air pipes C and D.
6. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
7. Move the engine control wiring harness out of the way.
8. Remove the vacuum hose and pipe assembly.
9. Remove the vacuum pipe bracket.
10. Remove the engine hanger and bracket.
11. Mark the location of the clamp position on the hose and then disconnect the upper radiator hose.
12. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
13. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor.
14. Remove the coolant feed hose.
15. Remove the heater hose.
16. Remove the water outlet fitting and thermostat case.
17. Mark the location of the clamp position on the hose and then disconnect the lower radiator hose.
18. Disconnect the knock sensor.
19. Disconnect the coolant feed hose and return hose.
20. Remove the water pipe assembly.

To Install:

1. Install the water pipe assembly.
2. Connect the coolant feed hose and return hose.
3. Connect the knock sensor.
4. Connect the lower radiator hose. Install the clamp in the original position.
5. Install the water outlet fitting and thermostat case.
6. Install the heater hose.
7. Install the coolant feed hose.
8. Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor.
9. Connect the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
10. Connect the upper radiator hose. Install the clamp in the original position.
11. Install the engine hanger and bracket.
12. Install the vacuum pipe bracket.
13. Install the vacuum hose and pipe assembly.
14. Install the engine control wiring harness in the original location.
15. Connect the accelerator cable.
16. Install the turbocharger bypass valve, air hose E, air pipes C and D.
17. Install the air cleaner.
18. Install the battery and tray.
19. Install the under cover.
20. Refill the cooling system

2.4L Engine

To Remove:

1. Drain the engine coolant.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Remove the thermostat.
4. Mark the location of the clamp position on the hose and then disconnect the upper radiator hose.
5. Remove the hose bracket.
6. Remove the wiring harness bracket.
7. Remove the water outlet.
8. Disconnect the heater hose from the thermostat case.
9. Disconnect the coolant return hose.
10. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
11. Remove the thermostat case assembly.
12. Disconnect the heater hose from the water pipe.
13. Move the wiring harness out of the way.
14. Disconnect the coolant feed hose.
15. Remove the bolt and the water pipe assembly.

To Install:

1. Install the water pipe assembly.
2. Connect the coolant feed hose.
3. Install the wiring harness in the original position.
4. Connect the heater hose to the water pipe.
5. Install the thermostat case assembly. Make sure to apply sealant to the thermostat case, bolt threads and bolt flange.
6. Connect the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
7. Connect the coolant return hose.
8. Connect the heater hose to the thermostat case.
9. Install the water outlet. Make sure to apply sealant to the water outlet.
10. Install the wiring harness bracket.
11. Install the hose bracket.
12. Connect the upper radiator hose. Install the clamp in the original position.
13. Install the thermostat.
14. Install the air cleaner.
15. Refill the cooling system.
