Removal & Installation

CAUTION
The control module is sensitive to static discharge. Make sure to touch a nearby metal object to discharge any static electricity that may be built up on your body.

CAUTION
Do not replace the ECM (M/T) or PCM (A/T) and the ETACS-ECU at the same time. Replace one of the control modules and then register the key code and VIN using a scan tool. Then replace the other control module. Refer to the scan tool instructions for information.

NOTE: The engine idle will be unstable until the ECM or PCM learns the idle speed.

Perform the following to learn idle speed;

• Run the engine to normal operating temperature and turn the ignition key to OFF (lock) position.
• Wait at least 10 seconds and start the engine.
• Idle the engine for 10 minutes with A/C off, transmission in Park (A/T) or Neutral (M/T) and engine coolant temperature at 176°F (80°C).
• The engine should idle smoothly.
