REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine oil.
3. Remove the radiator grille from the front of the vehicle.
4. Remove the eye bolts from the engine oil cooler. Be sure to hold the weld nut of the oil cooler with a wrench while loosening the eye bolt. Discard the two eye bolt gaskets (total number of four (4) gaskets in all).
5. Remove the oil cooler mounting bolts and extract the oil cooler from the vehicle.
6. Detach the securing clamps of the hoses and tubes, loosen the flare nuts, and remove the tubes and hoses.

   To Install:

7. Check the oil cooler for bent or damaged fins, and the oil cooler pipes for cracks, damage, clogging or deterioration. If damage exists have the component repaired, or replace if repairing is not possible. Clean the cooling fins of dirt or other foreign matter.
8. Reconnect the oil cooler hoses and securing clamps. On the 2.0L, the 2.3L and the 2.6L engines, when installing the hose assembly, install the long hose (return side) upward and the short hose (feed side) downward. On 2.4L, 3.0L and 3.5L engines, perform the following procedure.
   1. Provisionally tighten the eye bolts, and install the clamp so that it touches the crimps on the hoses.
   2. Fully tighten the eye bolt on the return hose.
   3. Place the feed hose against the stopper, and fully tighten the eye bolt on the feed hose.
9. Mount the oil cooler back into its original position and secure with the mounting bolts.
10. Connect the feed and return oil cooling hoses back to the oil cooler. Once again use a wrench to hold the weld nut in place while tightening the eye bolt into the oil cooler.
11. Place the radiator grille back onto the front of the vehicle and secure with the screws or bolts removed.
12. Fill the engine with oil. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
13. Start the vehicle and check for any oil leaks.
14. Shut the vehicle OFF. Check the oil level and add if needed.
