COMPONENT TESTING

  1. Remove the EGR temperature sensor.
  2. Place the EGR temperature sensor in water, and then measure the resistance value between terminals 1 and 2 while increasing the temperature of the water.
    1. At 122°F (50°C), the resistance should be 60–83 kilohms.
    2. At 212°F (100°C), the resistance should be 11–14 kilohms.
  3. Replace the EGR temperature sensor if there is a significant deviation from the standard value.
  4. Install the EGR temperature sensor and tighten to 7.3–8.6 ft. lbs. (10–12 Nm).
  5. Plug all connectors back into their original components.
