Montero

1. Unplug the park/neutral position switch wiring harness connector.
2. Check for continuity between the following connector terminals when the transmission selector lever is moved to the N position:
   • 1983–91 Monteros — terminals 3 and 4
   • 1992–93 Monteros — terminals 7 and 12
   • 1994–95 Monteros — terminals 5 and 6
3. If no continuity is found in the preceding tests, replace the switch with a new unit.
