THROTTLE PRESSURE ADJUSTMENTS

1983–86 Pick-Ups And Monteros

Throttle pressures cannot be tested accurately; therefore, the adjustment should be measured if a malfunction is evident. For this procedure you will need the Mitsubishi tool MIT3763 Throttle Pressure Adjust Tool.

  1. Insert the special tool between the throttle lever cam and the kickdown valve.
  2. By pushing in on the tool, compress the kickdown valve against its spring so that the throttle valve is completely bottomed inside the valve body.

Fig. 1: Use the special tool (either MIT3763 or C — 3763) to depress the kickdown valve while tightening the throttle lever — MA 904A and R4AC1 transmissions

  3. As force is being exerted to compress the spring, turn the throttle lever stop screw with an allen wrench until the head of the screw touches the throttle lever tang with the throttle lever cam touching the tool and the throttle valve bottomed. Be sure the adjustment is made with the spring fully compressed and the valve bottomed in the valve body.
