Wheel lug studs on the front disc rotors usually require the services of a machine shop when replacement is required. Rear axle flange mounted wheel studs can sometimes be hammered out and the new stud pulled in (clearance providing) when replacement is required. Once again, axle flange (axle removed from vehicle) or rear drum mounted studs may require the services of a machine shop for replacement.
