Only the 1992–95 Monteros are equipped with rear disc brakes and, therefore, have separate brake pads for the parking brakes. Other vehicles use the brake shoes in their drum brake assemblies; for those vehicles, refer to the procedures for drum brake shoe removal and installation.
CAUTION
Brake pads and shoes may contain asbestos, which has been determined to be a
cancer causing agent. Never clean the brake surfaces with compressed air! Avoid
inhaling any dust from brake surfaces! When cleaning brakes, use commercially
available brake cleaning fluids.
