REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
 
 
caution
  • If the engine-ECU is replaced, another ECU related to immobilizer system should not be replaced together. If at least two ECUs needs to be replaced, replace one ECU and then register its ID with M.U.T.-IIISE. Then proceed to the replacement of the other ECU.
  • If the engine-ECU is replaced, perform the coding for it.
  • If the engine-ECU is replaced, use M.U.T.-IIISE to write the Chassis No. (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions before Service, How to Perform Chassis Number Writing ).
  • After the engine-ECU replacement, idling speed may be unstable because the DI and MPI engine learning is not completed. To make it stable, let the system learn the idling (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions before Service, Learning Procedure for Idling in DI and MPI Engine ).
Pre-removal and post-installation operation
  • Air Cleaner Body Removal and Installation (Refer to GROUP 15 - Air Cleaner ).

<<A>> BREAK OFF BOLT REMOVAL <VEHICLES FOR ENGLAND>
 
1. <When using recommended tool screw extractor set (MB992678) or equivalent>
(1) Drill in the break off bolt a hole deep enough for the tap to stand.
(2) Use recommended tool screw extractor set (MB992678) or equivalent to remove the break off bolt.

2. <When using the flat-tipped screwdriver>
(1) Apply force towards the direction to loose the bolt by a flat-tipped screwdriver.
(2) Remove the break off bolt.
 
 
 
 
INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

Tighten the break off bolt until its head is broken off.
 
 
>>B<< INITIALISATION OPERATION
Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and then to "LOCK" (OFF) position and hold it for at least 10 seconds.
