Code No. P0830: Clutch Monitoring Switch Circuit <M/T>

OPERATION
  • The power voltage is supplied to the clutch monitoring switch from the engine-ECU connector terminal CLT1.
  • The clutch monitoring switch is earthed to the vehicle body.

FUNCTION
  • The engine-ECU detects the state of the depressed clutch pedal by using the signal of the clutch monitoring switch.
  • In response to the signal, the engine-ECU controls the AS&G system.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Condition
  • While engine is running.
Judgement Criterion
  • Although the driving is more than 60 km/h during the previous driving, the ON/OFF signal of the clutch monitoring switch is not changed even once.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • In the normal operation, the auto stop is prohibited.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Open/short circuit or harness damage in clutch monitoring switch circuit or loose connector contact
  • Failed clutch monitoring switch
  • Failed installation of clutch monitoring switch
  • Failed clutch pedal
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
  • Data list reference table (Refer to ).
    1. item 186: Clutch monitoring switch (upper)
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the installation state of the clutch monitoring switch and check the clutch pedal.
  • Check the installation state of the clutch monitoring switch.
  • Check whether the installation portion of the clutch monitoring switch of the clutch pedal is not damaged.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the clutch pedal assembly.

STEP 3. Check the clutch monitoring switch itself.
  • Check the clutch monitoring switch itself (Refer to GROUP 21A - Clutch Pedal - Inspection ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the clutch monitoring switch.

STEP 4. Perform voltage measurement at clutch monitoring switch connector.
  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Ignition switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal engine-ECU CLT1 line and body earth.
OK: System voltage
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check of short to earth, and open circuit in CLT1 line between engine-ECU connector and clutch monitoring switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
  • Reconfirmation of the diagnosis code.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the engine-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 7. Perform resistance measurement at clutch monitoring switch connector.
  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Resistance between terminal earth line and body earth.
OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
  • Repair the connector(s), or check of open circuit, and harness damage in earth line between clutch monitoring switch connector and body earth.

STEP 8. Check of damage in CLT1 line between engine-ECU connector and clutch monitoring switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
