Code No. P0833: Clutch Interlock Switch Circuit <M/T>

OPERATION
  • The power voltage is supplied to the clutch interlock switch from the engine control relay.
  • The ON/OFF signal is inputted to the engine-ECU connector terminal CLTR from the clutch interlock switch.

FUNCTION
  • The engine-ECU detects the state of the depressed clutch pedal by using the signal of the clutch interlock switch.
  • In response to the signal, the engine-ECU controls the AS&G system.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Condition
  • While engine is running.
Judgement Criterion
  • Although the driving is more than 60 km/h during the previous driving, the ON/OFF signal of the clutch interlock switch is not changed even once.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • In the normal operation, the auto stop is prohibited.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Open/short circuit or harness damage in clutch interlock switch circuit or loose connector contact
  • Failed clutch interlock switch
  • Failed installation of clutch interlock switch
  • Failed clutch pedal
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
  • Data list reference table (Refer to ).
    1. item 187: Clutch interlock switch (bottom)
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the installation state of the clutch interlock switch and check the clutch pedal.
  • Check the installation state of the clutch interlock switch.
  • Check whether the installation portion of the clutch interlock switch of the clutch pedal is not damaged.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Replace the clutch pedal assembly.

STEP 3. Check the clutch interlock switch itself.
  • Check the clutch interlock switch itself (Refer to GROUP 21A - Clutch Pedal - Inspection ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the clutch interlock switch.

STEP 4. Perform voltage measurement at clutch interlock switch connector.
  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Ignition switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal power supply line and body earth.
OK: System voltage
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s), or check and repair of short to earth, and open circuit in power supply line between engine control relay connector and clutch interlock switch connector.

STEP 5. Check of damage in power supply line between engine control relay connector and clutch interlock switch connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check of short to earth, open circuit, and damage in CLTR line between clutch interlock switch connector and engine-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
  • Reconfirmation of the diagnosis code.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the engine-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
