Inspection Procedure 10: The Feeling of Impact or Vibration when Decelerating

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
  • The failure could possibly be caused by the insufficient amount of intake air due to failed electronic-controlled throttle valve system.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Failed electronic-controlled throttle valve system
  • Contamination around the throttle valve
  • Failed supercharging pressure control system
  • Failed variable valve timing control system
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
Is the diagnosis code set?
Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer to ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
  • Data list reference table (Refer to ).
    1. Item 11: Accelerator pedal position sensor (main)
    2. Item 12: Accelerator pedal position sensor (sub)
    3. Item 13: Throttle position sensor (main)
    4. Item 15: Throttle position sensor (sub)
    5. Item 36: Inlet V.V.T. phase angle
    6. Item 39: Exhaust V.V.T. phase angle
    7. Item 46: Waste gate duty (Motor type)
    8. Item 127: Waste gate position sensor
Are the check results normal?
Go to Step 3.
Perform the diagnosis code classified check procedure for the sensor that has shown an abnormal data value. Inspection chart for diagnosis code (Refer to ).

STEP 3. Check throttle body (throttle valve portion) contamination.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Throttle body (throttle valve area) cleaning (Refer to ).

STEP 4. Check supercharging pressure.
  • Supercharging pressure check (Refer to GROUP 15 - On-vehicle Service - Supercharging Pressure Check ).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair.

STEP 5. Check the trouble symptom.
Does the trouble symptom persist?
Replace the engine-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
