Code No. P0238: Boost Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input
OPERATION
- A power voltage of 5 V is applied to the boost pressure sensor power terminal from the engine-ECU connector terminal UPS5 and earthed to the engine-ECU connector terminal E from the boost pressure sensor earth terminal.
- The sensor signal is inputted to the engine-ECU connector terminal UPS from the boost pressure sensor output terminal.
FUNCTION
- The boost pressure sensor detects a change in supercharging pressure and inputs the signal to the engine-ECU.
TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Conditions
- More than 2 seconds have passed since the engine starting sequence was completed.
- Engine coolant temperature sensor is normal.
Judgement Criterion
- Boost pressure sensor output voltage is 4.6 V or more for 2 seconds.
FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
- Supercharging pressure is restricted.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Failed boost pressure sensor
- Open circuit or harness damage in boost pressure sensor circuit or loose connector contact
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
STEP 2. Perform resistance measurement at boost pressure sensor connector.
- Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
- Resistance between terminal engine-ECU E line and body earth.
OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Check of open circuit, and damage in E line between boost pressure sensor connector and engine-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
STEP 4. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
STEP 5. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
STEP 6. Replace the boost pressure sensor
- After replacing the boost pressure sensor, reconfirm whether the diagnosis code is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the engine-ECU.
Check end.
