Code No. P0335: Crank Angle Sensor System

OPERATION
  • Power is supplied to the crank angle sensor from the engine-ECU connector terminal 5V and is earthed to the engine-ECU connector terminal DGND from the crank angle sensor.
  • A power voltage of 5 V is applied to the crank angle sensor connector signal terminal from the engine-ECU connector terminal SGT.

FUNCTION
  • The crank angle sensor detects the crank angle and inputs a pulse signal to the engine-ECU.
  • In response to the signal, the engine-ECU controls the injector, etc.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Condition
  • While engine is being cranked.
Judgement Criterion
  • There is no pulse signal input from the crank angle sensor, and a pulse signal of the inlet camshaft position sensor is detected 10 times or more.
Check Condition
  • During engine running.
Judgement Criteria
  • A pulse signal from the crank angle sensor continues 264 times and engine speed is less than 440 r/min.
  • A crank angle sensor signal pattern is not normal.
Check Condition
  • During engine running.
Judgement Criterion
  • A crank angle sensor signal pattern is not normal for 2 seconds and engine speed is more than 440 r/min.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION
  • None

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Failed crank angle sensor
  • Open/short circuit or harness damage in crank angle sensor circuit or loose connector contact
  • Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
  • Data list reference table (Refer to ).
    1. Item 2: Crank angle sensor
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Perform voltage measurement at crank angle sensor connector.
  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Ignition switch: ON
  • Voltage between terminal engine-ECU SGT line and body earth.
OK: 4.9 - 5.1 V
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit, and short circuit in SGT line between crank angle sensor connector and engine-ECU connector.
