Code No. P0944: Electric oil pump malfunction
 
 
cautionWhen you stop the vehicle while code No. P0944 is set and the AS&G is activated, the engine will also be stopped automatically. However, the CVT-ECU requests the engine to restart immediately.
 
 
Diagnosis function
The CVT-ECU monitors whether the electric oil pump works normally.
 
 
JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
The system detects twice that the secondary pressure is less than 0.06 MPa while the engine is stopped automatically (but the electric oil pump is activated).
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Unmetered air
  • Electric oil pump fails
  • The CVT fails (strainer tube blocked)
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
Is diagnosis code No. P0842, P0843 or P084A set?
Carry out the appropriate troubleshooting.
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
Is diagnosis code No. P0942 or P0946 set?
Carry out the appropriate troubleshooting.
Go to Step 3.
 
STEP 3. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
(1) Use the M.U.T.-IIISE to air-bleed the electric oil pump (Refer to ).
(2) Item No.33: Air-bleeding status of the electric oil pump
OK: "Complete" is displayed
Is the check result normal?
The inspection is complete.
Go to Step 4.
 
STEP 4. Check how the electric oil pump works.
Use the M.U.T.-IIISE to check the operation noise and vibration of the electric oil pump while the electric oil pump is air-bled (Refer to )*.
note*: It depends on the CVT fluid temperature how long you can hear and feel the pump operation (ranging from 5 seconds to 40 seconds).
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Replace the electric oil pump. Then air-bleed the electric oil pump (Refer to ).
 
STEP 5. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
Use the M.U.T.-IIISE to check the service data "secondary pressure" while the electric oil pump is air-bled (Refer to ).
  • Item No.21: Secondary pressure
OK: 0.1 MPa or more
Is the check result normal?
Air-bleed the electric oil pump completely (Refer to ). Then this inspection is complete.
Go to Step 6.
 
STEP 6. Check the oil strainer.
Remove the strainer tube from the CVT. Visually check the oil channels for blockage.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the electric oil pump. Then air-bleed the electric oil pump (Refer to ).
Correct or replace the strainer tube. Then air-bleed the electric oil pump (Refer to ).
