37 -ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) > TROUBLESHOOTING > DIAGNOSIS CODE PROCEDURES > Diagnosis code No.C1518 Torque sensor calibration Not Completed
Code No.C1518 Torque sensor calibration not completed

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnosis code may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

OPERATION
By executing the calibration of the torque sensor, the EPS-ECU learns the neutral position of the torque sensor.

FUNCTION
If torque sensor calibration is not performed, sets this diagnosis code.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Check Conditions
  • Engine start
Judgement Criterion
  • When torque sensor calibration is incomplete.
Fail Safe, Back Up Function
  • Even if torque sensor calibration is not executed, assist is performed, but there may be a difference in assisting force when steering wheel is rotated left and right. This can be solved by correctly completing torque sensor calibration.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Torque sensor calibrations incomplete.
  • Malfunction of the EPS-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
1. Confirm whether the value (LHD or RHD) of coding item, "Item: Handle side(FOR EPS)", is suitable for the steering wheel position of the real vehicle or not. If it is not suitable, replace the EPS-ECU.
2. Check the service data "Item No. 22: Steering wheel angle" and If there is an abnormality, perform troubleshooting for steering wheel sensor (Refer to GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting ).
3. Replace the EPS-ECU (Refer to ).
