REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

  • Never attempt to disassemble or repair the passenger’s air bag cut off switch. If faulty, replace it.
  • Do not drop or subject the passenger’s air bag cut off switch to impact or vibration. Replace the passenger’s air bag cut off switch, if a dent, cracking, deformation, or rust is present.
Pre-removal Operation
Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
 
Removal steps
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
Instrument panel side cover (Refer to GROUP 52A - Instrument panel assembly ).
Glovebox case assembly (Refer to GROUP 52A - Glove Box ).

Installation steps
>>A<<Pre-installation inspection
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

Glovebox case assembly (Refer to GROUP 52A - Glove Box ).
Instrument panel side cover (Refer to GROUP 52A - Instrument panel assembly ).
Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS
 
 
>>A<< PRE-INSTALLATION INSPECTION
Check the passenger’s air bag cut off switch for dents, breakage and bending and measure the resistance between the terminals, even when installing a new passenger’s air bag cut off switch.

 
 
>>B<< PASSENGER’S AIR BAG CUT OFF SWITCH INSTALLATION
warningIf the passenger’s air bag cut off switch is not installed securely and correctly, the passenger’s (front) air bag may not operate normally.
Securely connect the connector.

 
 
>>C<< POST-INSTALLATION INSPECTION
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
 
2. Check that the SRS warning lamp is illuminated for 6 to 8 seconds, and extinguished afterward.
3. If the lamp does not extinguish, perform the troubleshooting.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.

Check that the passenger’s air bag OFF indicator lamp is illuminated for 6 to 8 seconds, and extinguished afterward.
6. If the lamp does not extinguish, perform the troubleshooting.
