Code No. C2223 SONAR ECU power supply voltage

OPERATION
The clearance warning control unit sets diagnosis code No. C2223 when the power supply voltage remains 9.5 V or less, or 16.5 V or more for at least three seconds.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
Any of the conditions below are satisfied for at least three seconds:
  • The power supply voltage for the ECU is 9.5 V or less
  • The power supply voltage for the ECU is 16.5 V or more.

PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of battery (deteriorated/poor charging/loose terminals)
  • Malfunction of clearance warning control unit
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the battery.
Refer to .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the battery.

STEP 2. Check the charging system.
Refer to GROUP 16 - Charging System, On-vehicle Service .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Perform troubleshooting for the engine (Refer to GROUP 13A - Diagnosis Code Chart ).

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in EGND line between clearance warning control unit connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Voltage measurement at clearance warning control unit connector (IG terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
(3) Check the voltage between the clearance warning control unit connector (IG terminal) and body earth.
OK: System voltage
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check of short to earth, and open circuit in IG line between the ETACS-ECU connector and clearance warning control unit connector.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.
Check again if the diagnosis code is set in the clearance warning control unit.
(1) Erase the diagnosis code.
(2) Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.
(3) Check if diagnosis code is set.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Replace the clearance warning control unit (Refer to ).
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
