Inspection Procedure 3: The luggage room lamp does not illuminate normally.
 
 
caution
  • Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
 
 
 
 
OPERATION
The ETACS-ECU illuminates and extinguishes the luggage room lamp in accordance with the input signals from tailgate lock actuator.
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If this does not work normally, the tailgate lock actuator input circuit, luggage room lamp, or ETACS-ECU may have a problem.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of tailgate lock actuator
  • Malfunction of luggage room lamp
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. M.U.T.-IIISE diagnosis code
Check if diagnosis code is set in the ETACS-ECU.
Is the diagnosis code set?
Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU. Refer to .
Go to Step 2.
 
STEP 2. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
Use the ETACS-ECU service data to check the signals related to the operation of luggage room lamp.
  • Open the tailgate.

Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Troubleshoot the ETACS-ECU. Refer to Inspection Procedure 9 "The tailgate lock actuator signal is not received" .
 
STEP 3. Luggage room lamp bulb check
Check that the luggage room lamp bulb is normal.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the luggage room lamp bulb.
 
STEP 4. Check of open or short to earth circuit in LP+2 line between the luggage room lamp connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 5. Check of open or short to earth circuit in GLP- line between the luggage room lamp connector and ETACS-ECU connector.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 6. Check of open circuit in earth line between the luggage room lamp connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Replace the luggage room lamp, and then go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 7. Retest the system
Check that the luggage room lamp illuminates and extinguishes normally.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
