Inspection Procedure 20: The washer fluid level switch signal is not received.
 
 
 
 
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If there is an error to the washer fluid level switch input signal, the washer fluid level switch signal is no longer output to the communication line.
 
 
PROBABLE CAUSES
  • Malfunction of washer fluid level switch
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
 
 
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Washer fluid level switch check.
Refer to GROUP 51 - Wiper and washer .
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Replace the windshield washer tank assembly (Refer to GROUP 51 - Windshield washer ).
 
STEP 2. Resistance measurement at windshield washer tank fluid level sensor connector (earth terminal).
(1) Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2) Measure the resistance between the windshield washer tank fluid level sensor connector (earth terminal) and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.
 
STEP 3. Check of open circuit in earth line between windshield washer tank fluid level sensor connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 4. Check of open circuit in WFSW line between windshield washer tank fluid level sensor connector and body earth.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
 
STEP 5. M.U.T.-IIISE data list
Check the input signals from the washer fluid level switch.
  • Drain the washer fluid.
