Raise the front of the vehicle and support it with jackstands.
Remove the front wheels.
Remove the parking brake cover.
Unfasten the locknut and then loosen the parking brake adjuster until tension
is almost gone.
Disconnect the inner cable ends from the equalizer.
Remove the clips that fasten the cable grommets in place where the cable
passes through the body.
Pull the parking brake cable clamp out of the caliper and disconnect the
end of the cable.
On 1980 vehicles disconnect the front exhaust pipe and remove it.
On 1980–81 vehicles, remove the front-most exhaust system cover.
Loosen the attaching bolt and remove the bracket holding the cable to the
transverse link.
Unfasten the bolt and remove the bracket attaching the cable to the crossmember
bracket.
Detach the cable from the guide to the rear crossmember.
Pull the cable out of the passenger compartment.
To install, reverse this procedure, making sure the cable passes through
the guide inside the driveshaft tunnel. Adjust the brake as described in this
section.
