Windshield Wiper Motor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the front wiper arm assembly.
  3. At the wiper motor, disconnect the electrical harness.
  4. Remove the wiper motor-to-cowl retainer bolts.
  5. Using a suitable prytool, separate the wiper link from the motor assembly.

    To install:

  6. Attach the wiper motor to the link assembly.
  7. Install the wiper motor and tighten the cowl bolts to 65 inch lbs. (7.4 Nm).
  8. Install the wiper arm assembly.
  9. Connect the wiper motor harness.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Check for proper wiper operation.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the wiper arm.
  3. At the wiper motor, disconnect the electrical harness.
  4. Remove the wiper motor-to-cowl retainer bolts.
  5. Find or fabricate a ring which has the same diameter as the outer diameter of the plastic joint that retains the linkage to the wiper motor. Force the ring down over the joint to force the 4 plastic retaining jaws inward, then disconnect and remove the linkage.
  6. Remove the wiper motor.
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Secure the cowl bolts to 39–65 inch lbs. (4–7 Nm).
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. Check for proper wiper operation.
