- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning
of this section.
- Drain the differential oil.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
- Exhaust pipe and muffler
- Driveshaft and axleshafts
- Support the differential carrier with a transmission jack.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
- Two nuts securing the differential to the rear mounting bracket
- Two bolts securing the differential to the front mounting bracket
- Lower the jack and remove the differential.
To install:
- Raise the differential into position with a jack.
- Install or connect the following:
- Two bolts securing the differential to the front mounting bracket and
tighten to 53 ft. lbs. (72 Nm)
- Two nuts securing the differential to the rear mounting bracket and
tighten to 53 ft. lbs. (72 Nm)
- Remove the jack.
- Install or connect the following:
- Axleshafts and driveshaft
- Exhaust pipe and muffler
- Fill the differential with the proper type and amount of fluid.
