Oil Pan

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Drain the oil from the engine.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
  4. Support the engine with a suitable lifting device and lift the engine slightly.
  5. Remove the oil pan.
  6. Clean all gasket material from both mating surfaces.

    To install:

  7. Install the drain plug with a new gasket. Torque the bolt to 33–36 ft. lbs. (43–47 Nm).
  8. Apply a continuous bead of sealer to a new oil pan gasket.
  9. Install the oil pan assembly. Torque the bolts to 36–48 inch lbs. (4–5 Nm).
  10. Lower the engine onto the front crossmember.
  11. Install or connect the following:
  12. Refill the engine to the proper level with the recommended oil and run the engine.
  13. Check for leaks.
