Ignition Coil and Ignitor Assembly

Testing

1. Using a Digital Multi-meter, inspect the resistance of the primary ignition coil and replace if out of spec.
2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.
3. Install a DMM set to read Ohms between terminals 1 and 2.
   • Resistance specification: 0.73 Ohm ±10%
4. Install a DMM set to read Ohms between terminals 2 and 4.
   • Resistance specification: 0.73 Ohm ±10%

   CAUTION
   If resistance is extremely low, this indicates a short-circuit.

   2.5L Ignition Coil/Ignitor Ass. Secondary Side Test

5. Using a Digital Multi-meter, inspect the resistance of the secondary ignition coil and replace if out of spec.
6. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil.
7. Install a DMM set to read Ohms between (A) and (B).
   • Resistance specification: 12.8 kOhm ±15%
8. Install a DMM set to read Ohms between (C) and (D).
   • Resistance specification: 12.8 kOhm ±15%
   • Insulation between primary terminal and case: 10 MOhm or more
