Removal & Installation

2.0L DOHC Engine and 2.5L DOHC Engine

Right Side

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Ground terminal from battery
   • Air cleaner lower case
   • Connector from ignition coil
   • Ignition coil

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Ignition coil
     1. Torque to: 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm)
   • Connector to ignition coil
   • Air cleaner lower case
   • Battery ground terminal

Left Side

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Battery cables
   • Battery and battery carrier
   • Washer motor connector
   • Rear window glass washer hose from washer motor and plug connection
   • Two bolts and move the tank aside
   • Connector from ignition coil
   • Ignition coil

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Ignition coil
     1. Torque to: 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm)
   • Connector to ignition coil
   • Washer tank
   • Washer motor, hose, and connector
   • Battery, battery carrier, and cables

2.5L SOHC Engine

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Battery ground cable
   • Spark plug wire from ignition coil and ignitor assembly
   • Connector from ignition coil and ignitor assembly
   • Ignition coil and ignitor assembly

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Ignition coil and ignitor assembly
     1. Torque to: 4.7 ft. lbs. (6.4 Nm)
   • Connector from ignition coil and ignitor assembly

     CAUTION
     Be sure to connect spark plug wires to their proper positions. Failure to do so will damage unit.

   • Spark plug wires from ignition coil and ignitor assembly
   • Battery ground cable
