Shift Lever

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Gear shift knob
   • Battery ground terminal
   • Console box
   • Boot plate
   • Safely raise and support the vehicle
   • Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Rear exhaust pipe and muffler
   • Heat shield cover (If equipped)

   • Transmission bracket stay
   • Rod from joint

   • Cushion rubber from body
   • Joint and the spring pin
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Remove the gear shift lever.

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Joint to the transmission and secure with the spring pin
   • Gear shift lever from interior
2. Safely raise and support the vehicle.
3. Install or connect the following:
   • Joint to shifter arm
   • Spring pin
   • Cushion rubber on the body
     1. Torque to: 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm)
   • Rod to the joint
     1. Torque to: 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm)
   • Stay to transmission bracket
     1. Torque to: 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm)
   • Heat shield cover (If equipped)
   • Rear exhaust pipe and muffler
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Install or connect the following:
   • Boot plate to body
     1. Torque to: 5.5 ft. lbs. (7.5 Nm)
   • Console box
