Replacing the fuel filter without adequate ventilation may lead to a fire. Replace the fuel filter only in a well-ventilated area away from any open flames (e.g. a gas water heater).

Fuel filter is installed in fuel pump assembly inside fuel tank.
Replace fuel filter (or fuel pump assembly) with new one periodically.
