ECT Sensor Removal and Installation

Reference: ECT Sensor On-Vehicle Inspection:K14C

Removal

1)Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.

2)Drain coolant.

3)Disconnect connector from ECT sensor.

4)Remove ECT sensor (1) from thermostat case.

Installation

Reference: ECT Sensor Inspection:K14C

Reverse removal procedure noting the following points.

•Clean mating surfaces of ECT sensor and thermostat case.
•Check O-ring for damage and replace, if necessary.
•Tighten ECT sensor (1) to specified torque.

Tightening torque

ECT sensor (a): 12 N·m (1.2 kgf-m, 9.0 lbf-ft)

•Refill cooling system with coolant.

•Check cooling system for leakage.
