Valve and Cylinder Head Disassembly and Reassembly

Disassembly
NOTE:
If the following parts are removed, keep them in order. They must go back in the positions from which they were removed.
•Valve cotter
•Valve spring retainer
•Valve spring
•Valve spring seat
•Intake valve
•Exhaust valve
•Valve spring retainer
•Valve spring
•Valve spring seat
•Intake valve
•Exhaust valve
1)Using special tools (A) and (B), compress valve spring and then remove valve cotters (1) using special tool (C).
2)Release special tools, and remove valve spring retainer and valve spring.
3)Remove valve from combustion chamber side.
Reassembly
2)Using special tool, install valve stem seal as follows.
a)After applying engine oil to new valve stem seal (1).
b)Fit guide (2) to valve stem to prevent valve stem seal from damage, and install valve stem seal to valve stem.
c)Remove guide (2) from valve stem.
d)Install valve stem seal to valve guide by pushing push rod (3) by hand until bottom of valve stem seal contacts with cylinder head.
NOTICE:
If the valve stem seal is installed by striking the special tool with a hammer or other similar tool, the valve stem seal may be damaged, causing oil to get down past the seal.
Push the special tool only by hand to force the valve stem seal into position.
3)Install valve spring and valve spring retainer.
4)Using special tools, compress valve spring and then fit two valve cotters (1) into groove of valve stem as shown in figure.
