P Range Test

If a P range test is performed without checking that the area around the vehicle is clear of persons and objects, there is a risk of severe personal injury or death.
Check that the downhill from and around the vehicle is clear of persons and objects before performing the test.
1)Stop vehicle on a slope of 5 degrees or more, shift to P range and apply parking brake.
2)Stop engine, depress brake pedal and release parking brake.
3)Release brake pedal gradually and check that vehicle remains stationary.
4)Depress brake pedal and shift select lever to N range.
5)Release brake pedal gradually and check that vehicle moves.
